Bhagya Samarakoon is a researcher in the Engineering Product Development program at Singapore University of Technology and Design, where she also received her Ph.D. in 2022. Her research interests are reconfigurable robotics, artificial intelligence, cleaning robotics, human-robot interaction, and service robotics. Samarakoon was a recipient of several international awards, such as IDA International Design Awards in 2022, the Nanjing City Prize in IEEE Ro-Man 2018, and runner-up in Mini Drone Competition at IEEE/RSJ IROS 2018. She has been the vice chair of the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE), Singapore Section, since 2023.
