Blain Beyene (C'25) is majoring in government with honors with minors in French and religion, ethics, and world affairs. Originally from the Washington, DC, area, she holds a lifelong interest in the intersection between culture and politics. In particular, she has studied religion in its functions as a force for peace and violence worldwide, a major provider of humanitarian assistance, a source of political disagreement, and an avenue of musical expression. Her own identity as a Catholic Ethiopian-American greatly influences her interests of studying the role of religion as a political influence throughout Africa. Beyond her studies at Georgetown, Blain is involved in Catholic Ministry and Georgetown's Radio Club.
