Corina Villacorta is the Executive Advisor on Child Rights at World Vision International (WVI). She previously served as WVI regional vice-president for Latin America and the Caribbean from 2004-July 2010 and director of leadership development from 2002-04. She joined World Vision in 1982 in Peru, her native country; she subsequently worked as regional director of WVI’s Continuous Education Program and as operations director of World Vision Peru. Villacorta also founded a local women’s NGO working in the slums of Lima. Appointed country director of World Vision Peru in 1991, she moved to Costa Rica in 1993 to work in the Education for Development Program. Villacorta holds bachelor’s degrees in Social Sciences and Social Work from the University of San Marcos and a master’s degree in Urban Planning and International Development from UCLA. She is proficient in English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese.
