David Chiu is an assemblyman in the California State Legislature representing the 17th Assembly District, which encompasses eastern San Francisco. As an assemblyman, Chiu has served as chair of the California Asian Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus, policy chair of the California Legislative Progressive Caucus, and chair of the Assembly Housing and Community Development Committee.
