Denise Ackermann is a distinguished South African feminist theologian. She was extraordinary professor at the University of Stellenbosch, Professor of Christianity and Society at the University of the Western Cape, and visiting professor at Auckland University in New Zealand. She holds a doctorate in Theology as well as a DT.h honoris causa. She is the author of many books, including After the Locusts: Letters from a Landscape of Faith and Claiming our Footprints: South African Women Reflect on Context, Identity and Spirituality and has served on numerous boards, councils, and research panels. In 1998 she acted as theological advisor to Archbishop Ndungane at the Lambeth Conference, a 10-yearly international gathering of Anglican bishops convened by the Archbishop of Canterbury. Professor Ackermann was a founding member of the Circle of Concerned African Women Theologians, a scholarly network that focuses on the intersection of African women's experiences and theological discourse. It aims to empower women through critical engagement with theology, promoting gender justice and addressing socio-cultural issues within the African context.
