Dheen Mohamed is a professor in the Muhammad Bin Hamad Al Thani Center for Muslim Contribution to Civilization in Hamad Bin Khalifa University's College of Islamic Studies. He previously was a professor and associate dean for academic affairs in the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies at Qatar University; he also taught at the International Islamic University in Pakistan. He is a native of Sri Lanka, where he did his initial Islamic studies before enrolling at al-Azhar University in Cairo, where he obtained bachelor's and master's degrees. He also received his doctorate in comparative religion from al-Azhar.
