Profile

Eduardo F. Gutiérrez González is an assistant professor at the Center of Theological Formation at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia, where he teaches, conducts research, and provides international consultancy on religion and peace. He is also a junior research fellow (postdoc) in humanities and social sciences at Blackfriars Hall, Oxford, and a research fellow at the Georgetown University Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs. His interests include imagination, spirituality, world-building in art and literature, and the peaceable power of dialogical/analogical reasoning. Gutiérrez González completed his D.Phil. in theology and religion at Oxford with highest honors—supervised by Prof. Alister McGrath and Dr. Maria Power; examined by Prof. John Paul Lederach and Prof. Mark Wynn. Fully funded by the Porticus Foundation, his doctoral research explored the role of imagination in peacebuilding, focusing on religious imaginaries in the Colombian Truth Commission’s report and recommendations. His academic journey includes an Master of Studies degree in science and religion at Oxford and prior studies in philosophy (M.A. from Javeriana, B.A. Universidad de La Sabana).
