Emma van den Dijssel (SFS’27) is an undergraduate student in the Walsh School of Foreign Service, studying international politics. She is a member of the IAJU Global Citizenship Fellows Program 2025 cohort. As a Dutch-American from Switzerland, New York, and Miami, Emma is committed to using her international background and languages to connect with others and approach complex problems with compassion, understanding, and open-mindedness. Passionate about social, economic, and environmental issues, Emma has worked on projects addressing single-use plastics, period poverty, and education inequality in her local community. At Georgetown, she aims to expand her impact to the global level—studying global issues in the classroom and engaging firsthand with international development and diplomacy through organizations like Georgetown Global Consulting and the Georgetown European Club. In the future, she is eager to apply her skillset in the fields of business, policy, and politics to make a meaningful impact.
