Halil Avci

Halil Avci (G'28) is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Theology and Religious Studies at Georgetown University. He received his M.Litt. in systematic and historical theology from the University of St. Andrews. His research interests in theology focus on interreligious encounters from a comparative perspective, as well as on the theology of religions. His publications include “Christian-Muslim Relations after the ‘A Common Word’ Initiative of 2007: Towards a Muslim Self-Understanding in Relation to Christianity” (Journal of Interreligious Studies, 2025). His doctoral work examines logos and kalām, the Word of God, as a shared concept of revelation for advancing Christian-Muslim relations. At the Berkley Center, he is working under Dr. Jocelyne Cesari as a graduate fellow for general research and special projects.
