John McGreevy is the dean of the College of Arts and Letters and a professor of US history at Notre Dame University. McGreevy joined the Notre Dame history faculty in 1997 and served as department chair from 2002 to 2008, prior to his appointment as dean. He is the author of Parish Boundaries: The Catholic Encounter with Race in the Urban North (1996) and Catholicism and American Freedom: A History (2003). He has also been published in the Journal of American HistoryCommonweal, the New Republic, and the Chicago Tribune. He received his B.A. from Notre Dame and his Ph.D. from Stanford.
