Archbishop Joseph Mitsuaki Takami is president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Japan. He was ordained a priest on 20 March 1972, and has served as Archbishop of Nagasaki since 2003. Archbishop Takami was born seven months after the atomic bomb killed 60,000 people in his hometown, including his grandmother, two aunts and an uncle.
