Born in Lainé (Lola), Guinea, in 1963, Kpakilé Félémou leads the Community of Sant'Egidio in Guinea and is one of the coordinators of the Sant’Egidio DREAM program whose aim is to prevent and treat HIV and AIDS, which was launched in Guinea in 2006. Guinea is one of Africa’s poorest countries and he coordinates the efforts of more than 1,500 people of different ages who engage, on a volunteer basis, in service to address the country’s most difficult realities. Members of the Guinean Community of Sant'Egidio visit prisons to improve the living conditions of prisoners and to set them free when detention is too long and unfair. They are also committed to improving the difficult living conditions that so many Guinean children face.
