Lystra Hagley-Dickinson is a senior lecturer and regional academic manager at The Open University, as well as an adjunct faculty member at the University of the West Indies Global Campus. A Black Caribbean migrant and British mixed-race woman, she is a criminologist whose research focuses on widening participation and addressing social inequality.Her scholarship is informed by a Black feminist standpoint, reflected in publications such as “An Offer of Standpoint to Social Work, Ethics and Law” and “Educational Leadership: Reducing Offending Amongst Incarcerated Juveniles in Antigua and Barbuda.” She has also begun exploring issues of death, loss, and inequality in collaborative work, including Breaking Silences: The Aftermath of Death, Loss & Change in the Lived Experiences of Racially Minoritised People in the UK, co-authored with Jane Ribbens McCarthy and Remi Martin.
