Mirjam Künkler is a research professor at the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences at the Royal Academy of Arts and Sciences of the Netherlands. Her books include Female Religious Authority in Shiʿi Islam: Past and Present (2021) and A Secular Age Beyond the West (2018), among others. She is a principal investigator of the Iran Data Portal, co-editor of the Cambridge Journal of Law and Religion, and sits on the editorial boards of journals in Iranian studies, Middle Eastern studies, religion, and law.
