Pratima Dharm served as Georgetown University's Hindu chaplain from October 2014 to January 2015 and was the first to hold the position. She previously served as the first Hindu chaplain in the United States Army from 2006 to 2014, where she was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for her work with humanitarian aid missions for Kurdish Iraqis. Dharm is trained in the Vaishnav Hindu tradition in India and is endorsed by Chinmaya Mission West in California. She holds a B.A. from Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey University in Mumbai, a master's degree in psychology from Annamalai University in Tamil Nadu, and a master's degree in theology from Ashland Seminary.
