Rama Mani-scholar, practitioner, policy
analyst, poet, and dramatic artist-works for peace, justice, and human security.
Her current roles include councilor of the World Future Council, senior research
associate at Oxford University’s Centre for International Studies. She
co-founded Rising Women Rising World, with Dr. Scilla Elworthy and Professor
Jean Houston, a global initiative of women committed to societal
transformation. She was formerly director of the New Issues in Security Course
at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP). She served as the executive director
and CEO of the International Centre for Ethnic Studies (Colombo) from January
2007 to April 2008. Her publications include Beyond Retribution: Seeking Justice in the Shadows of War
(Polity/Blackwell 2002, reprinted 2007) and (with Thomas Weiss) Responsibility to Protect: Cultural
Perspectives in the Global South (Routledge, 2011). Dr. Mani holds a Ph.D.
in political science from Cambridge University, UK, an M.A. in international affairs
from Johns Hopkins University, US, and a B.A. in political science and French literature
