Seil Oh, S.J. is a professor of Sociology at Sogang University in South Korea. His main areas of research are religion, spirituality, culture, social movements, happiness, statistics, and social methodology. Through his studies he is trying to connect academia and the social fields of sufferings and social struggles to emphasize the dignity of vulnerable and marginalized people and enhance the common good in society. He is also a part of the Berkley Center's Catholic Social Teaching and the Global Future of Development project. Oh entered the Society of Jesus in 1994 and went on to study theology at the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley at Santa Clara University. He joined the priesthood in 2004 and later earned his Ph.D. from the Department of Sociology of Boston College.
