An ordained Buddhist monk who helped rebuild the Cambodian sangha following the Khmer Rouge period, Venerable Yos Hut Khemacaro teaches meditation at Wat Lanka, a Buddhist monastery in Phnom Penh, and works as an advisor to a range of Cambodian and international NGOs. He also heads the Khmer Buddhist Foundation. Before returning to Cambodia, Yos Hut lived in France from 1973 to 1986 and worked with the United Nations Border Relief Operation from 1988 to 1992 in Thailand as an advisor on educational and human rights programs.
