Waymarks Toward Reunion
Leader: Patrick Beldio
Waymarks Toward Reunion is a sacred arts initiative rooted in the Christian journey through wilderness, reawakening imagination through beauty, contemplative practice, and theological reflection. Grounded in Catholic tradition and shaped by Jesuit and Franciscan spirituality, the project opens into ecumenical and interfaith dialogue—drawing on Vedantic and Sufi wisdom—to form participants in a pilgrim way toward God’s light, freedom, and reunion with creation and one another. Throughout 2026 the project will support courses, workshops, and public lectures at the University of Scranton and Georgetown University. One student from each school will be selected for a fellowship offering additional studio time and enhanced mentorship. The inaugural phase of the project will culminate in a capstone symposium celebrating student work and gathering voices from both universities alongside Jesuit, Franciscan, and interfaith communities.
Waymarks Toward Reunion, led by Research Fellow Patrick Beldio, is a collaboration between Reunion Studios, the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land in America, the University of Scranton, and the Georgetown University Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs. It is made possible by support from the Creative Arts Collective for Christian Life and Faith.
