Authors: Shaun Casey Elizabeth Ferris David Hollenbach Jon Sawyer

January 15, 2018

While religion may not be the central driver of either current mass migration or the various global, national, and local challenges that have arisen as a result of the displacement of millions, authors Shaun Casey, Elizabeth Ferris, David Hollenbach, S.J., and Jon Sawyer view religion as a significant factor both in the causes of conflict and political instability around the world, and also as part of the solution to the significant challenges posed by the crisis. This white paper offers an overview of the policy, ethical, and media-related challenges associated with the current refugee and forced displacement crisis and suggests future research and outreach avenues, particularly at the intersection of religion and world affairs, in order to meet these challenges.
