Ecological Ethics and Practices

December 1, 2025

Developed in a collaboration between the Berkley Center and the Laudato Si’ Research Institute at Campion Hall, Oxford, this working paper by Séverine Deneulin and Masooda Bano explores how Christian and Islamic ethical teachings can guide responses to climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental harm. Drawing on Laudato Si’, Fratelli Tutti, and core Islamic principles, it examines practical ways to cultivate ecological virtues, promote moral responsibility, and support sustainable relationships with both people and the natural world. This essay is scheduled for open-access publication by Brill/Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht in the Studies on Religious Social Practice series in 2026.
