Research Fellow Patrick Beldio's book, The Mother of the Sri Aurobindo Ashram: Co-Creator of the Integral Yoga explores the pivotal contributions of the Mother (Mirra Alfassa, 1878-1973) to the Integral Yoga that she and Sri Aurobindo (Aurobindo Ghose, 1872-1950) developed for his ashram. While scholarship has often overlooked Mirra's role, focusing instead on Aurobindo's early writings in Arya (1914-1925), this neglect has led to an incomplete understanding of their shared spiritual vision. The book highlights the significance of their collaboration from 1920 until Aurobindo's death in 1950 and examines Mirra's work in the ashram after his passing—work she claimed brought to fruition his prophecy of the "Supermind," a transformative faculty that would manifest a new humanity and a new earth throughout her body.
