December 1, 2025

Developed in a collaboration between the Berkley Center and the Laudato Si’ Research Institute at Campion Hall, Oxford, this working paper by Benedikt Schmidt and Ismail Lala examines convergences and divergences in Christian and Islamic thought. The authors explore how these traditions can shape ethical perspectives and support cooperative approaches to environmental challenges. This essay is scheduled for open-access publication by Brill/Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht in the Studies on Religious Social Practice series in 2026.
