Developed in a collaboration between the Berkley Center and the Laudato Si’ Research Institute at Campion Hall, Oxford, this working paper by Dietrich Werner and Naiyerah Kolkailah synthesizes key insights from Christian and Islamic theologies of creation, highlighting shared scriptural foundations and complementary perspectives on the relationship between God, humanity, and the natural world. They examine the theological grounding for environmental stewardship and propose strengthened Christian–Muslim collaboration to advance ecological responsibility and climate justice. This essay is scheduled for open-access publication by Brill/Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht in the Studies on Religious Social Practice series in 2026.
