Does Educational Opportunity Remain the Key to Success in the United States?

“The educated differ from the uneducated as much as the living differ from the dead.”
– Aristotle

One of the greatest strengths of the United States has always been our ability to offer a fair educational opportunity to the citizens of the world. Our schools and universities have always had students from all across the country (and all across the world) come to share ideas and further our collective intellect. This cultivation of our communal brainpower has always been the strongest benefit to our success as a country. It is only when the most people have the opportunity to learn that our country has the ability to succeed.
This theory still holds true today. When the citizens of the United States have the education needed to analyze the problems we face today, we are able to solve them in an efficient and productive manner. When our citizens are unable to obtain the needed skills, whether by choice or by situational circumstances, we are unable to look at the issues in a way to produce meaningful and successful outcomes. It is imperative that we make sure that our citizens have the educational opportunity to reach their successful state because it is only when personal success occurs that we are able to make our county, city, state, and country successful.

Educational opportunity allows for a person to enter places in their minds that he or she didn’t even know existed. This allows for them to explore new facets of creativity, and it is by exploring and utilizing this creativity that the ability to solve our country’s problems comes from. Whether the issue is healthcare, foreign policy, war, jobs, or energy, the ability to solve these problems comes from the people who are able to critically analyze the issue at hand and create the solutions needed to win.

The ability for a person to have an opportunity to learn allows for that person to live. The ability for a community of people to gain that same opportunity allows for that community to thrive. The ability for a country to afford an equal chance for educational opportunity is the country that will succeed the best in our world today. The past success of the United States depended on that. Our future success, as individuals and as a country, will be determined by it.
