Award-winning author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, who recalls being drawn to the ornate “drama of Mass” as an Igbo child growing up Catholic in Nigeria, reflected on how faith relates to her work during a Faith and Culture Series conversation with Paul Elie, an author and Berkley Center senior fellow. Adichie also discussed her book Dear Ijeawele: A Feminist Manifesto in Fifteen Suggestions (2017), in which she explores the importance of embracing differences, openly discusses appearance and sexuality, and rejects traditional gender roles and the notion of “likeability.” A reception and book signing followed.
The event was sponsored by the Georgetown University Office of the President.
