Hannan Ahmed is an undergraduate student in the Walsh School of Foreign Service, class of 2019, majoring in regional and comparative studies. She focuses on integration of minority communities and national security in the Islamic world. Additionally, Ahmed will be attaining a minor in Arabic. She hopes to improve her Arabic language skills during her fall 2017 semester abroad studying diplomacy and policy in Amman, Jordan, where she will also be blogging for the Junior Year Abroad network. Born to Eritrean parents in Dallas, Texas, she still struggles to understand how to properly dress for cold weather. At Georgetown, Ahmed is often spotted with a coffee in hand at the African Studies Program where she works, or in Lauinger Library where she "studies."
