Following Colombia's 2016 peace accord, the Truth Commission identified religious "social imaginaries" as critical to how non-repetition and peaceful coexistence, yet omitted an analytical framework for how these worldviews operate. In this Zygon article, Eduardo F. Gutiérrez González addresses this gap by developing a cross-disciplinary theory on the formation and transformation of social imaginaries. Applying this framework to Colombia's contemporary political landscape, the author outlines how religious worldviews can be reshaped to support peacebuilding and reconciliation.
