As we approach the sixtieth anniversary of the second Vatican Council declaration Nostra Aetate, we recall this important milestone in Catholic-Jewish relations and all that it has achieved. Yet tensions between Jews and Catholics remain, including as a result of the events on October 7, 2023, and the subsequent war in Gaza. The Center for Jewish Civilization and Berkley Center hosted a discussion with four panelists that have been engaged in this dialogue for many years and discussed the present state of the relationship as well as their hopes for the future. The session was introduced by Professor Zion Evrony, adjunct professor at the Center for Jewish Civilization in the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, and moderated by Katherine Marshall, a senior fellow at Georgetown’s Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs and professor of the practice of development, conflict, and religion in the School of Foreign Service.
This event was convened by the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs and the Center for Jewish Civilization.
