Jocelyne Cesari on Academia Furthering International Religious Freedom

Senior Fellow Jocelyne Cesari spoke at the IRF Secretariat's Civil Society Program on the role of academia in fostering thoughtful dialogue and advancing the global research agenda on religious freedom. Cesari is the co-chair of the secretariat's Global Academic Council.

Berkley Center Faculty Participate in Test of Faith: A Summit to Defend Democracy

Berkley Center Senior Fellow Rev. David Hollenbach, S.J., Senior Research Fellow E.J. Dionne, Jr., and Research Fellow Jim Wallis participated in "Test of Faith: A Summit to Defend Democracy" from September 19 to 20. Hosted by Georgetown's Center on Faith and Justice, this conference was devoted to maintaining the integrity of faith traditions and the tradition of democratic governance. Rev. Hollenbach, Research Fellow E.J. Dionne Jr. and Research Fellow Jim Wallis participated in drafting and signing the open letter calling for the the defense of democracy against authoritarian threats.

ESJ Project Continues Supporting Student Research at Global Social Justice Research Symposium

The 2025 Education and Social Justice (ESJ) fellows, Madison Ross (C’27), Allie Schlicht (SFS’27), Cici Sprouse (C’26), and Stella Vance (C’26), showcased their respective research projects at the 2025 Global Social Justice Research Symposium on September 26. They were joined by fellows from the Laidlaw Undergraduate Leadership & Research Scholarship ProgramMaeve McKean Global Health AwardDavid F. Andretta Summer Research Fellowship, and Royden B. Davis Fellowship. This symposium was hosted by the CSJ and the Berkley Center at Georgetown University.

Jerome Copulsky Analyzes Religion and Power in U.S. Governance

Jerome Copulsky, research fellow at the Berkley Center, co-authored an article with David T. Buckley in Arc Magazine examining how religious ideas and actors are shaping efforts to redefine the U.S. federal bureaucracy and discussing the entanglement of faith and politics in the current U.S. administration.

WFLF Alumna Sr. Francisca Ngozi Uti, HHCJ, Reflects on the Role of the United Nations in Countering Injustice

In a recent National Catholic Reporter article, Sr. Francisca Ngozi Uti, HHCJ, director of the Centre for Women Studies and Intervention in Nigeria, highlights the UN's role as a bridge between local realities and global commitments. In an interview with ACI Africa, Sr. Ngozi also called on major institutions, including the World Bank, to work directly with faith-based organizations that have long been at the forefront of humanitarian response across Africa.
