José Casanova to Lecture on Faith and Public Discourse at Birks Forum

On March 17, Berkley Center Senior Fellow José Casanova will deliver a lecture titled "World Religions in the Emerging Global Disorder," as part of a Birks Forum series on "Faith and Public Discourse in Troubled Times.The following day, March 18, he will participate in a public conversation with Charles Taylor and Hans Joas on the same topic.

José Casanova Presents on Religious Foundations of Civil Society in Ukraine

On March 7, Berkley Center Senior Fellow José Casanova will join a panel at the "2025 Ukrainian Studies Conference," co-sponsored by Notre Dame and Ukrainian Catholic University. In the discussion, titled "Faithful Hope: Religion and Resilience in Ukraine," Casanova will explore the religious underpinnings of Ukraine's strong civil society networks.

Paul Elie Discusses His New Book on Religion and American Culture in the 1980s

In a recent interview with Publishers Weekly, Berkley Center Senior Fellow Paul Elie speaks on secularization in the United States, "crypto-religious" work, and his own experiences attending a Jesuit university in the 1980s—all in the context of his forthcoming book, The Last Supper: Art Faith, Sex, and Controversy in the 1980s (2025).

Nicole Abudayeh Announced as 2025 Pulitzer International Reporting Fellow

Each year, the Berkley Center nominates one student for the prestigious Pulitzer Center International Reporting Fellowship. This year, Nicole Abudayeh (SFS'26) has been selected for that honor. Her reporting will focus on the role of faith-based social activism in protecting migrant populations from human trafficking in Ceuta, Spain. Nicole joins a global cohort of scholars who are working to uncover and amplify underreported stories that shape our world.

The application for the 2025-2026 cohort of the Women Faith Leaders Fellowship is open to Catholic sisters from Sub-Saharan Africa who are actively engaged in religious and community service. The fellowship seeks applicants dedicated to the development of their communities and the empowerment of women and girls, in service to the common good.
